## How to play

Once a day you get a single roll. Tap Roll and six slot reels spin to a random number between 000000 and 999999. The moment the reels stop, the number is checked for rare patterns: digit patterns like a palindrome (123321), twins (274274), a run (2345), three of the same digit in a row or four of a kind; number properties like prime, perfect square, cube, Fibonacci, power of two or triangular number; and round numbers ending in 00 or 0000 — even a match with today's date. Every pattern found is a badge, and every badge adds points. The rarer the pattern, the more it is worth: a badge's points are 10 × log2 of its odds, counted exactly over all one million possible rolls, so a 1-in-1,000 palindrome is worth 100 points and a 1-in-100,000 six of a kind 166. Your day's score is the sum of your badges and can go on the daily leaderboard, which starts fresh at midnight UTC. Every badge you find is added to your collection, so you can keep rolling day after day to fill it.

## Controls

Mouse or touch: tap Roll (or the reels) to roll, tap the reels again to skip the animation, and switch between Today and Badges with the tabs at the top. Keyboard: Space or Enter rolls and skips, B switches between Today and Badges, Esc goes back to Today.

## Tips

- There's no skill in the roll itself — the fun is in the reveal. Watch the reels land one by one and see which patterns light up.
- Each badge shows its odds and its points, so you can always see exactly why your number scored what it did.
- Badges stack: 000000 would be a palindrome, a perfect square and cube, a round number and more, all at once.
- Open the Badges tab to see which patterns you haven't found yet and how rare each one is.
- Roll every day to build a streak — the roll resets at midnight UTC, the same moment worldwide.
- Copy your result to share today's number and badges with friends.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is Daily Roll?

Daily Roll is a free daily random number game. Once a day you roll a number from 0 to 999,999, it is scanned for rare patterns such as primes, palindromes, perfect squares and repeated digits, and each pattern earns a badge worth points. It runs in your browser on phone, tablet and computer with no download or sign-up.

### How are the points calculated?

Every badge is worth 10 × log2 of its odds, rounded. The odds are counted exactly over all one million possible rolls: a palindrome turns up in 1,000 of them (1 in 1,000), which works out to 100 points; a prime turns up in 78,498 (about 1 in 13), worth 37 points. Your score for the day is the sum of all the badges your number earns.

### Can I roll more than once a day?

No. You get one roll per day, and the result is saved the instant you tap Roll. A new roll unlocks at midnight UTC, the same moment for every player — the countdown under the badges shows when.

### Is the roll really random?

Yes. Each roll uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator, so every number from 000000 to 999999 is equally likely. Nothing you do can change the result, which makes everyone's chances on the leaderboard the same.

### How does the daily leaderboard work?

Your day's score can be saved to the daily leaderboard, where higher is better. Each UTC day has its own ranking, so the leaderboard starts fresh every day at midnight UTC.

### Are my badges saved?

Yes. Your badge collection, best score, streak and recent rolls are saved in your browser on this device. Open the Badges tab to see every badge, how often you've found it and its odds.
