## How to play

All 52 cards are dealt face up into eight columns. Build each foundation up by suit from Ace to King to win. In the columns, place a card on one that is one rank higher and the opposite color (a red 6 on a black 7). The four free cells in the top corner each hold one card. You can move a whole ordered run at once when there are enough free cells and empty columns to make room. Safe cards go to the foundations automatically, and the clock starts with your first move.

## Controls

Mouse: drag cards to move them, or click a card to send it to the best spot. Phone and tablet: drag or tap. Keyboard: Z, U or Backspace to undo, N for a new game. Tap the deal number to replay or choose a specific deal.

## Tips

- Free the Aces and Twos early — they are often buried near the top of a column.
- Treat free cells as precious: every card parked there makes long runs harder to move.
- An empty column is worth more than a free cell, because it doubles how many cards you can move at once.
- Undo is unlimited, so try a line of play and back out if it leads nowhere.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is every FreeCell deal winnable?

Almost. Of the classic 32,000 deals, only deal #11982 has no solution, and random games never pick it. A few other deals are known to be very hard.

### What are the deal numbers?

Deals use the same numbering as the classic Windows FreeCell, so deal #1 here is the same layout as anywhere else. Tap the deal number to replay it or enter any deal from 1 to 1,000,000.

### How does the leaderboard work?

When you win, your time in seconds is submitted. Lower is better, and the clock only starts when you make your first move.

### Is my game saved?

Yes. Your current deal, moves and undo history are saved in your browser, so you can close the page and continue later.
