## How to play

Start on the cell marked 1 and drag a single line through the grid. The line must pass the numbered cells in order — 1, 2, 3 and so on — and finish on the highest number. Along the way it has to visit every cell of the board exactly once: it moves only up, down, left or right, never crosses itself and can't pass through the thick walls. Made a wrong turn? Drag back over your line to shorten it, tap any cell on the line to cut it back there, or use Undo. Stuck? A Hint redraws the correct route up to the next stretch, at the cost of 10 seconds on the clock. Every board is built from a random path that covers the whole grid and checked by a solver so it has exactly one solution. Play as many boards as you like, from an easy 5×5 to a hard 8×8: a fresh puzzle is generated every time, and after each solve you can jump straight into the next one. Each size has its own leaderboard for the fastest solve times.

## Controls

Mouse or touch: press on the end of your line (or on 1) and drag through the cells; drag back to erase, tap a cell on the line to cut it there. Keyboard: arrow keys or WASD extend the line, the opposite direction steps back, Backspace removes the last cell, Z undoes, H gives a hint.

## Tips

- Look at the corners first: a corner cell has only two neighbours, so the line must enter it from one and leave by the other.
- Cells squeezed between walls or the edge often have only one way through — draw those bits before anything else.
- Count the gap between two numbers: if the shortest route is much shorter than the cells left in that area, the line has to wander to fill them.
- Don't leave a pocket of cells behind you that the line can never come back to — that's the most common dead end.
- Every hint adds 10 seconds to your time, so try a quick undo before reaching for one.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Number Path free?

Yes. Number Path is completely free, runs in your browser on phone, tablet and computer, and needs no download or sign-up.

### Is Number Path like the Zip game?

Yes. If you enjoy Zip-style path puzzles, the rules will feel familiar: connect the numbers in order with one continuous line that fills every cell. Number Path adds unlimited boards in four sizes, so you're not limited to one puzzle a day.

### Can I play unlimited puzzles?

Yes. Every board is brand new — 5×5 (easy), 6×6 (medium), 7×7 and 8×8 (hard) — and after a solve, Next puzzle starts another board of the same size right away. Each size keeps its own best time on your device.

### Does every puzzle have only one solution?

Yes. Each board starts from a random line that covers the whole grid, and a solver adds numbers or walls until that line is the only possible answer.

### How does the leaderboard work?

Each board size, from 5×5 to 8×8, has its own leaderboard ranked by solve time, including any hint penalties — lower is better. Solve a board and you can save your time to that size's leaderboard, then keep playing new boards to beat it.

### Is my progress saved?

Yes. Your current line and timer are saved in your browser, so you can close the page and come back later to finish it.
